Warren County United Way has set a campaign goal to raise $1.875 million for the various social service organizations and programs it serves. The need for social services and programs is stronger than ever, but United Way officials said they had to set a realistic goal with the struggling local economy effecting donations. Last year, the organization set a $2.4 million goal and raised $1.9 million.
With the holiday weekend just around the corner, local and state gas prices are shooting up, according to a website gauging prices. Prices for a gallon of regular gasoline will raise by 25 to 30 cents along the Cincinnati-Dayton corridor by Friday, Sept. 3, as motorist hit the roads for a long Labor Day weekend, according to CincinnaiGasPrices. com.
